First response to emotional distress
Schneider Children’s medical center
Strengthening resilience in healthcare teams

At Schneider Children’s Medical Center, we are launching a pioneering study to evaluate the impact of the EmotionAid® protocol on pediatric healthcare teams facing extreme stress and trauma.

Through six targeted training sessions, participants will learn practical self-regulation tools designed to reduce burnout, improve emotional resilience, and enhance their ability to handle daily trauma in a high-pressure medical environment.

What

Participants will gain science-backed self-regulation techniques, equipping them to manage high-pressure situations effectively and build emotional resilience before extending these skills to their patients.

Uniqueness
  • Psychoeducation to explain their new reality in this abnormal context
  • Familiarization with the 5-steps protocols and how to self-regulate on the field and at home
  • Support them in developing resources that help them
Impact
  • Total trained professionals in 2025: 90 individuals across three departments.
  • Estimated impact: 9,000 patients.
Details of the project
A leading institution in pediatric care and well-being

Schneider Children’s Medical Center of Israel, established in 1991, is the largest pediatric hospital in the Middle East, offering comprehensive care across all pediatric disciplines to children.

Pediatric healthcare professionals work in one of the most emotionally demanding environments, where daily exposure to suffering, high-stakes decisions, and trauma can take a profound toll on their well-being.

A partnership for resilience at Schneider Medical Center

The events of October 7, 2023, intensified this reality in Israel, with medical teams experiencing unprecedented psychological strain as they cared for war casualties, including children who had been held hostage.

To address this growing crisis, Schneider Children’s Medical Center is partnering with EmotionAid® to explore an evidence-based solution for stress regulation and resilience building among its staff.

Empowering pediatric healthcare teams

The initiative will be implemented in three phases, targeting different hospital departments:

  • Department 1 – General Medicine (February-April 2025): 30 participants, each undergoing six individual training sessions over three months.
  • Department 2 (May-July 2025): Same structure, extending to a second department.
  • Department 3 (September-November 2025): Training for an additional group, maintaining the same structure and impact.

Each participant will gain science-backed self-regulation techniques, equipping them to manage high-pressure situations effectively and build emotional resilience before extending these skills to their patients.
